Sada (سداة)
Sada is a material-led project that transforms human hair into a functional sheet-like surface using flaxseed gel as a natural binder. The concept starts from the idea that hair carries personal meaning and “holds memory,” which made sourcing donors emotionally sensitive and highlighted the uniqueness of the material. Structurally, hair’s keratin contributes durability and resistance to wear and moisture, while flaxseed gel improves cohesion and stability. The process involved cutting hair into shapes, testing stitching methods, and applying natural coloring (blue nila) to create expressive fragments that connect “feelings from the past” to everyday use. The fabrication workflow includes boiling flaxseed, filtering the gel, binding hair fibers, drying, cutting to size, and sewing into the final application.
